September 15, 2006, Newsletter Issue #32: Consumer Products Safety Commission For Industrial Products

Tip of the Week

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is a federal agency established to ensure safety is provided to the consumer at the home and industrial levels. The Commission is responsible for overseeing more than 10,000 available products and publishing safety guidelines on them, especially industrial safety products. Since its establishment, there has been a steady rate of decrease in the amount of people injured because of an unsafe product.

However, the CPSC does not produce safety guidelines on products such as food, medication, or perfume. The guidelines for food, drugs, and medication are released by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
