T.A.S.C.O. Tip: When you hear the term Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), you can be assured OSHA isn't far behind. Essentially, OSHA states PPE is required to reduce employee exposure to hazards when not possible otherwise.
But, did you know individual employers are required to determine if PPE should be used to protect their workers? Twenty-four states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands have OSHA-approved State Plans regarding PPE. This means they have adopted their own enforcement policies and rules, although most adopt standards identical to OSHA's regulations. Personal Protective Equipment programs can include everything from respiratory products to clothing that protects against chemical injuries, to hand and foot protection, and blood borne pathogen kits.
When shopping for PPE items, don't overlook some simple ways to keep employees safe from hazards such as sunscreen, hand sanitizer and lighted arm bands. You can find these and many other PPE products at TASCO.
